Banksys launches Xentissimo, its newest mobile payment terminal |

Paris, 15 November 2005 — Banksys introduces its new XENTISSIMO mobile payment terminal at Cartes 2005. XENTISSIMO continues on the strengths of the XENTA countertop terminal and introduces several innovations in terms of mobility, security, battery autonomy, and transaction performance. Compact, lightweight and truly portable, the XENTISSIMO has been designed for optimal user interaction and long lifespan. This makes XENTISSIMO the ideal solution for on-the-road transactions, in-store promotion sales, the hospitality sector, and for many more mobile applications. XENTISSIMO will be commercially available throughout Europe in 2006.

Innovation on the move

The XENTISSIMO is powered by the same “System-on-Chip” technology as the XENTA countertop terminal. This innovative dual-processor/single-chip solution results in superior transaction speed and state-of-the-art payment security. XENTISSIMO hosts a full-featured Linux® operating system.
XENTISSIMO is standard equipped with a wireless LAN communication interface. In combination with the GSM/GPRS proven technology, the terminal is the ideal solution for either point-of-sale environments (such as restaurants, in-store promotion teams, petrol forecourt sales) or anyone on the road: taxis, home delivery services or field technicians will benefit from the many features offered by XENTISSIMO.

Developed for optimal user interaction

Fold it out, fold it in. It is as easy as that! The privacy shield, the most tangible security feature of the XENTISSIMO, has been creatively incorporated into the design of the terminal. Thanks to the patented concept of the convertible shield, the terminal, when not in use, has a streamlined look and feel. The large graphic display, the highly accessible card interfaces, the ergonomic keypad design, and the backlit keys easily accommodate all customer needs. A fast and silent printer is integrated into the design. The XENTISSIMO is equipped with a rechargeable high-autonomy Lithium-Ion battery with intelligent power management. Once charged, the battery allows for up to 300 transactions a day (including ticket). Sleek, compact and lightweight, the XENTISSIMO provides an unequalled degree of mobility.

The starting point for developing the new terminal was a series of market research initiatives, which led to an understanding of the most crucial expectations of our customers in this relatively new but growing market segment. The results of user interviews and customer surveys were compiled and matched with Banksys’ know-how in security and technology.
