The DEP/T6 hardware security module confirms Banksys' unique offering in data encryption technology |
15/11/2005 |
Paris, 15 November 2005 — Banksys introduces the DEP/T6 Hardware Security Module at Cartes 2005. The new tamper-evident hardware hosts two DEP/PCI cards, providing an unmatched encryption solution for leading banks, card issuers, or payment processors in traditional and new markets.
Encryption is now a fundamental component of many business-critical processes, making the protection of all cryptographic keys absolutely essential. Banksys’ Data Encryption Peripheral (DEP) is a range of Hardware Security Modules (HSM) that fully meet the needs of both traditional banking applications and emerging markets such as e-commerce, m-commerce, e-banking, and pay TV access control.

Maximum security in any environment
Banksys has a unique expertise in hardware security modules and secure applications, having developed and used its own HSM solutions for over twenty-five years. This unmatched combination of know-how and acquired expertise provides the DEP product line with unprecedented levels of security and reliability.
The DEP/T6 contains all cryptographic functions necessary to secure transactions on EFTPOS systems and supports all major transaction schemes. It provides end-to-end EMV compliance, from key generation and card issuing to online transaction security and back-office processing. It supports electronic purse, credit and debit card transactions, and provides support for EMV 3.1.1, EMV 4.0, and EMV CAP-based systems as well as a wide range of cardholder authentication mechanisms for Internet payments.

Reliability and ease of use for uninterrupted operation
The DEP/T6 has been designed with particular attention to reliability, performance, user-friendliness, and uninterrupted 24/7 operation in any business-critical environment. Several features stand in for continuous performance: two independent Ethernet ports and two DEP/PCI cards, transportable storage area for back-up process, reduced maintenance through the absence of hard disc, ventilator or other moving parts. Ease of use is guaranteed by the availability of a software development kit for firmware customisation.
The DEP Network Management System enables remote management, configuration and monitoring of a pool of DEP/T6 modules.
Compliance with industry standards
The DEP/PCI is evaluated according to the Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level EAL 3+. A Common Criteria Evaluation at Level EAL4+, according to the Protection Profile for Digital Signature - CWA 14169 TYPE - 3, is currently in progress. The DEP/PCI also meets the FIPS-140-2 Level 4 security requirements and has been granted MEPS (Méthode d’Evaluation des Produits de Securité) approval by Cartes Bancaires for the French market. These approvals underline the commitment of Banksys to comply with security requirements in the most demanding markets.
