A panel of consultants from the EPCA and European Card Review have awarded five 2005 EPCA prizes for outstanding contributions to Europe’s payments business during 2005. Banksys’ XENTISSIMO was among the four finalists in the category ‘Most Innovative Terminal Solution’ and won the first prize. A representative of the EPCA committee commented: “All the submissions were to a very high standard and as a result agreeing the shortlist has been extremely difficult.” In order to qualify, eligible products had to be innovative and totally new in their concept, to use new technology or processes to provide a competitive edge, to present radically improved offers to consumers and to substantially improve the efficiency of the payment process. With XENTISSIMO, Banksys introduces several innovations in terms of mobility, security, battery autonomy and transaction performance. Compact, lightweight and truly portable, the XENTISSIMO terminal has been designed for optimal user interaction and a long lifespan. Thanks to the patented concept of the flip-up privacy shield, the terminal, when not in use, has a streamlined look and feel. The XENTISSIMO is powered by the same “System-on-Chip” technology as the XENTA™ countertop terminal. This innovative dual-processor/single-chip solution, developed by Banksys, results in superior transaction speed and state-of-the-art payment security. XENTISSIMO hosts a full-featured Linux® operating system. The standard wireless LAN and optional GSM/GPRS communication interfaces guarantee its mobility and portability. This makes XENTISSIMO the ideal solution for on-the-road transactions, in-store promotion sales, the hospitality sector and for many more mobile applications.
