Contactless reader

The elegant XENTA Contactless Reader can easily be mounted on new or field-installed XENTA terminals. It uses NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to read a card or other devices from a short distance. No need to insert the card.

Faster payments, more impulse purchases

Customers tap their card on the clearly recognizable antenna area ("landing zone"), and the terminal reads the data needed to process the transaction.

Benefits:

  • More sales: contactless transactions mean faster payments. No need to insert a card, and no PIN code required for smaller amounts. Transaction speed is actually enhanced by the integrated nature of the XENTA Contactless solution, reducing communication time between the reader and the terminal to a few milliseconds. The result: shorter checkout times, more frequent and more impulse purchases.
  • Lower maintenance: as there is no contact, wear and tear is kept to a minimum. So the system is more reliable than contact card systems, with lower maintenance costs in the long run.
  • Security: contactless payments on XENTA are as secure as traditional payments. The software driving the reader is located on the security processor inside the terminal, allowing logical security controls to be carried out.
  • Flexibility: the XENTA Contactless Reader can deal with a wide range of signalling schemes (ISO 14443 type A, B, Sony Felica and NXP MIFARE) built into different devices such as contactless cards, key fobs, and mobile phones.
