No need for a separate power adaptor with the XENTA PoweredUSB cable. This accessory combines power and communications cabling in one, allowing to link up a XENTA terminal to a retailer’s electronic cash register (ECR) or PC.
Single cable for both power and communication in the retail environment
A PoweredUSB connection at one end of the cable connects to the 12V PoweredUSB port of the ECR or PC. The other end splits conveniently into two, with a serial RJ45 plug, and a 6.5 Volt power plug.
Benefits
The PoweredUSB cable makes a power adapter redundant for the terminal. A double benefit for customers with an international presence, since power adapters vary from country to country.
The cable can also transmit communication between the terminal and the ECR. In such cases, the ECR recognises the terminal as a peripheral and handles the host communication.
Merchants can still choose to use an alternative communication channel - either wired (Ethernet) or wireless (GSM/GPRS or wireless LAN) - to transmit transactions to the host.
PoweredUSB Driver
In most circumstances, the XENTA PoweredUSB cable should not require the installation of a specific USB driver on the ECR/PC. The solution works on all operating systems that support USB technology such as Windows (98, 2000, Me, NT, XP, Vista), Apple and Linux. This cable requires no software changes on the ECR/PC.
In case installation problems should occur though, please download the USB driver here:
