Atos Worldline wins prestigious red dot award for its YOMANI payment terminal
The international "red dot award: product design" is awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany, and ranks among the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world. With more than 4,250 submissions from 57 countries in 2010, the award is judged in 17 different categories. The YOMANI terminal won in the category "architecture and interior design: shop equipment".
With the YOMANI payment terminal, Atos Worldline introduces a unique design in the payment area. The terminal incorporates three payment interfaces - magnetic-stripe, chip and contactless - and a large full-colour display, all in a small footprint. The display and illuminated card slots guide cardholders through the payment process. The striking shape of the YOMANI provides an integrated protection for PIN entry, while guaranteeing an optimal access to the card readers and to the display. The terminal has been designed with the professional support of VanBerlo Design Strategy + Product Development.
"We are very honoured to receive the red dot design award for the YOMANI terminal," says Dirk De Cock, CEO of Atos Worldline in Belgium. "The international jury reviewed the submitted products according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality and formal quality. All features for which Atos Worldline stands renowned with its range of payment terminals."
"All products that have won an award in the red dot design award had to convince an international expert jury of their quality. The products stand out from the masses with their excellent design and innovative approaches and proved their quality in one of the toughest design competitions worldwide," explains design expert Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator of the red dot design award.
The festive awards presentation will take place in the Essen opera house, the Aalto-Theater, on 5 July 2010. The red dot design museum will then exhibit all award-winning products in a special exhibition from 6 July to 1 August 2010. Afterwards the products will be on show for at least one year in the red dot design museum's permanent exhibition.
